What makes us different is that we let the dogs play outside almost all day long with us. Each dog has one on one time with us. If a dog gets outside time at another kennel, it is on a leash only and usually only once or twice a day for about 20 minutes (if that). Our extended play times morning and afternoon allow for your dog(s) to burn up that pent-up energy.
Our vision is to do WHATEVER we need to do to make the dog HAPPY!
Frequently Asked Questions:
How long has Fantana Farm and Kennel been in business?
Opened on May 16, 2005 for business.
What is an average day like at the kennel?
Breakfast at 7:00 a.m. Dinner at 2:30 p.m.
All dogs go out at 7:30am and stay out until 10:30. Then out once again for an hour after dinner.
(Outdoor Time is all contingent on weather conditions)
What provisions have you made for emergency situations?
We have added a second well so we'll always have water. We have also added a generator, so if there is a power outage, the kennel will have FULL power and the owner stays on the property.
Do I need to give you a 4-6 week notice to board my dog(s)?
A week or two is best for most times of the year but at least three to four weeks notice is highly suggested for National Holidays and summer months.
All reservations are based on availability. Holidays and summers are particularly busy times so please try to call us well in advance.
What shots does my dog need to stay at Fantana Farm and Kennel?
Your dog(s) need to be immunized for Rabies, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and Distemper/Parvo. Shots need to be administered by a veterinarian. We need to receive the records from the veterinarian at least 24 hours in advance of your dog’s arrival at Fantana.”
How do you determine which dogs play together? What if my dog bites another dog?
We base playgroups on age, size, and temperament. We will separate dogs if they don't get along. We also ask the clients for their permission first before we team up the dogs into playgroups.
What if my dog has an emergency? Do you take my dog to my vet?
Absolutely! We have your vets contact information on file and would call them first. If your vet is unavailable, we discuss with you when you drop off your dog(s) what vet we would call if yours is not able to respond to the situation.
My dog has a disease, do you give dogs any needed medication? Is there an additional cost to administer medicine?
Yes, we can administer medications for an additional $3.00 a day; however, we do not administer shots.
Do you provide dog food or do I need to bring my own? What if my dog has a special diet?
Yes, we do provide food or you may bring your own. If the dog is on a special diet that is okay. Sometimes a dog has a delicate stomach and needs their own food.
I have a great dane, do you provide a food table so they will not have to eat off the floor?
Yes, of course.
Do you board un-neutered male dogs?
We prefer to take male dogs that have been neutered; however, we will make exceptions depending on the age and social skills of the dog.
Do you clean the dogs beds / blankets before they come home?
Yes, we do not send soiled beds / blankets home. We always try to clean anything before your dog goes home.
